Anand Rao

Anand Rao, a Distinguished Services Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, specializes in applied data science and AI, with a focus on their business and societal applications over his extensive career spanning consulting, industry, and academia. With prior roles as Global AI Leader at PwC and Chief Research Scientist at the Australian Artificial Intelligence Institute, Anand brings a wealth of expertise in AI, management consulting, and research. His current research interests include operationalizing AI, responsible AI, systems thinking, and behavioral economics. Anand holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and an MBA from Melbourne Business School. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to consulting and AI research and serves on several advisory boards, including those of Oxford University’s Institute for Ethics in AI and the World Economic Forum’s Global AI Council.
